Mix Media Installation: Paper and Wire

This project introduces us to three-dimensional thinking by inviting to create a series of abstract forms/objects/patterns responding to our selected persona. A precedent in this case is an initial mind map of one partner that guide the development of form-making in various media that based on the conversation of the person. We explored and applied compositional design principles by embedding an initial visual trigger within a concept that unfolds iteratively in both 2D and 3D environments. We applied a design strategy to a variety of materials in order that we study, understand and discern how the material change affects the concept. We applied systems of pattern and modularity to various substrates to discover the properties each possesses. We research, iteration process, and documenting process will allow us to analyze our design discoveries to share our iteration.
The expression of paper has a vital connection with external factors. The texture and thickness of different paper materials determine the rendering of the work itself. However, as I am working on my persona, I realized that when using different paper materials, we have to consider different factors in the environment where the works are exhibited. The variety of light effects and backgrounds have a great influence on the work itself, so I am super aware of the combination between materials and the environment. It is the type of water-proof, oil-proof, high transparency and tearable paper, it also perfectly delivered my thoughts and ideas.
